Read the clue description first.

- 1 tub liquid latex mold making compound
- 10 disposable paint brushes
- 1 pack of never dry clay
- 1 David statue (bought off eBay for $15)
- 1 sheet of foam core
- 50 pounds plaster
- 1 Roll of 1.5 inch masking tape
- 4 long carriage bolt
- 4 wing nuts
- 4 strips of metal
- 1 Dremel tool
- 1 Drill
- Some sand
- And More time than you care to spend
- Clean the David with soap and water and let it dry.
- Build a flange on one side of the David using the never dry clay. Also place a thin layer of clay in all of the hollow areas(between the arms and body and between the legs).
- Paint a thinned layer of latex on the entire statue and paint only 1 side of the clay and allow to dry for about 10 - 12 hours.
- Paint a more substantial layer on the existing latex areas and allow to dry for 10-12 hours.
- Repeat step 4 for a week.
- Remove the never dry clay areas and paint those areas with a syrupy soap and water solution. Let that dry and then do it again. This layer will allow the mold to separate instead of making an unremovable cocoon.
- Paint everything with more latex. Allow to dry for 10-12 hours.
- Repeat step 7 for 1 week.
- Make a box that is about 1-1.5 inches larger in all directions than the David statue. This was made from foam core
- Secure the base of the David to 1 end of the box and seal it in place with latex. Lay the statue horizontally on a table and brace the statue with pieces of plaster or toothpicks so that it will not tear away from the box.
- Pour a plaster layer that covers half of the statue mold and allow to dry.
- Paint the exposed plaster with the syrupy soap as you did the flanges. This will allow the second pouring to pull away from the first.
- Completely cover the David statue with the second pouring of plaster and allow to dry.
- Remove the 2 piece plaster mold and then remove the latex form from the David.
- Seal the flange of the form using the masking tape. Place latex in the plaster box and secure box using the bolts nuts and pieces of metal.
- Pour plaster into the form and allow to dry for at least 4 hours.
- Remove the David from the mold.
- Carefully destroy the David leaving the crotch intact.
- Make a mold of the crotch using a process like above.
- Cast 20 Davids using the steps 15-17
- Use the drill to remove the crotch on the 20 Davids.
- Use the Dremel to clean up the area and insure space is adequate for the clue.
- Add the clue, some sand and an inverted crotch piece and seal the edges using plaster.
